Disclaimer: This reading is for entertainment purposes only. I do not personally know Ray J or the Norwood family. Everything in this post is my opinion based on how I interpret tarot and oracle cards.
What's Going On with Ray J?
It has been reported that singer Ray J has approximately a year left to live due to his heart only functioning at 25%. He blames it on alcohol abuse and poor lifestyle habits. I decided to pull a few Lenormand cards to get a feel for the situation. Is he exaggerating his condition, or is he being truthful?
What is Ray J looking towards?
I'm using the Man card as his significator, then I'm going to pull three cards to tell the story.
The cards: Key, Moon, Lily
I'll start by saying that the Moon showing up is timely since the night I am doing this reading is a full moon.
I don't pay much attention to Ray J unless he's done something funny or weird to go viral.
Also, let me note that at this very moment, it is 11:11 and my phone battery is at 66%.
The Verdict According to Lenormand?
There are secrets. Unfortunately, I do think he might be telling the truth about his timeline and health condition, but I'm not sold that the cause for his decline is solely his lifestyle, although I do believe he has a substance abuse problem. The majority of the people we see and hear in the media have a substance abuse problem.
I think the reason he is supposedly trying to see the "Voodoo Man" is because he's been around some people or enraged some people who practice some type of magick.
To read the cards as I see them, the true answer (key) is hidden (moon), but there is or will be peace or retirement (lily).
Lowkey, I feel like a spiritual boundary has been set as far as what I'm allowed to see. It feels like these cards are a bit of a roadblock, so I'm going to leave them be for now.
Revisiting the Energy with a Different Deck
After a good night's sleep, I decided to revisit Ray J's health energy again, this time with the Kipper Fortune Telling Deck. I made sure to spritz myself with my cleansing waters and anoint myself with protection oils before I proceeded this time around. As I mentioned before, I don't follow Ray J, but he goes viral often. I know over the past couple of years he has said himself that he's been going through some troubles with his health—mainly mental health, I think. So, I'm going to approach this with as much respect and clarity as I can.
The question I asked while shuffling the Kipper cards: Is Ray J being truthful about his health condition?
I used the Main Male card as Ray J's significator.
The cards I pulled in response to the question were Main Female, Imprisonment, and Concern.
I want to note that it is 1:11 pm on 2/2 when I am reading these cards.
I pulled a second three-card spread to clarify, and I got Gift, Pathway, and Message of Concern.
Here we go.
Ray J, according to my cards, is definitely not in the best of health. I feel like this is also obvious in his physical appearance. We all age and our bodies go through things, but recounting some of the photos and videos I've seen of him over the past few months, he hasn't looked well in a while.
The first spread is showing me that he is trapped (Imprisonment) by something, and it is causing him a great deal of distress (Concern). The presence of the Main Female card makes me wonder if the strife he is experiencing has anything to do with a prominent female in his life. I know he's publicly linked to a few, so who knows?
The clarifying spread looks promising in the beginning with the Gift, but it still ends in concern. The Pathway card shows up in between the Gift and the Message of Concern, which takes my mind in the direction of "he-had-a-charmed-life-but-chose-this-destructive-path" state. I hear a little voice saying, "It didn't have to be this way."
One Last Look
I decided to pull three tarot cards to close out this reading as far as what I'll publicly share about what I saw and the energies I encountered while exploring these spiritual streets.
While meditating on Ray J's health, three cards fell out of the deck: The Fool reversed, Page of Cups, and The World reversed.
I won't go through all the textbook meanings of each card, but I will sum them up by saying that these cards are telling me that this is the bed he made. His issues are just as much relational and spiritual as they are physical. He made poor choices (The Fool reversed), was very immature (Page of Cups), and now his world seems to be upside down (The World reversed).
Side note: I mentioned earlier the numbers 11:11 and 2/2; both of these sets of numbers deal with balance and choices. Do with that what you will.
I asked the tarot whether Ray J's timeline of approximately one more year left of life is accurate.
The cards: Queen of Cups reversed, Knight of Wands, Judgement
As respectfully as I can say it, and I hope I'm wrong, it doesn't seem like he's going to live to be an old man. The reversed Queen of Cups is showing me his fear, while the Knight of Wands is showing me his bravado. That upright Judgement card, though, is concerning—which is a word that has appeared in the cards quite a bit.
I don’t know how much time he really has. I don't know him personally, and I'm not his doctor. However, just reading the energy surrounding this is discouraging.
The cards from last night and from today are very consistent.
Final thoughts
Keeping in mind that all of this is conjecture and speculation, there are a few well-known names, specifically female, that he's publicly linked to that I can call out as far as who or what may have been the source of some of his spiritual troubles. I won't do that, though, because I try to be a responsible journalist, even when I'm reading tarot cards about celebrity gossip.
Conspiracy theories will always abound, but I believe a lot of the ones associated with Ray J have some truth to them. He's an opportunist and an amazing marketer, which is how he's made his fortune. I think a lot of people forget that he was once a singer, especially the younger folk born after 2006. However, being something of a grifter catches up to you eventually.
On a personal note, I remember when my mom was diagnosed with heart failure about five years before she passed away. She could have lived longer, but her health was super fragile since she was diabetic, too. Ultimately, it wasn't the heart disease or diabetes that took her to the other side, but her stubbornness and relational problems. She was too young to go, but at least she was in her 50s when she was diagnosed. Ray J is only in his 40s.
About two or three years ago, I read a book called The Courage to Be Disliked. I didn't agree with many of the principles in that book, but there were a couple that made sense. One of them, which has stuck with me since I read the book, is that all problems are "people problems." The book phrased it more eloquently, but my version is more direct.
Essentially, if we are true to ourselves and have lowered expectations in relationships, the world would be a different place. That is true on both a macro and a micro level.
Take care of yourself. Be a decent person.
Love,
Sparkle Noir
